Half of the people in the gym do them that way. I've seen bodybuilders doin em that way as well. I think that's where people get their form. If you see someone else doing it, well then it must be correct.
I agrees,
I see that painfully often myself.
And some guys who are kinda built and have muscle mass in their
backs do that too. But maybe the muscle is a result from rows or deads.
My girfriend even asked me, when I demonstrated to her the
way I do pulldowns, that aren't you supposed to lean back when
you do it, that's how everyone does it at her gym...
this guy doing lat-pulldowns is like asif he is a Jockey on a horse... LOL either the weight is too much for him handle or he is just trying to impress some women? lol
I have also seen two guys doing it in the gym (sligthly different though - they held bar with palms facing body), and when I asked about it they told me it is part of some advanced Big Three Program - and as I am absolute beginner, I stayed away from it... They were also walking around when they would do deadlifts - something like lift, make couple of steps (forward or even backwards) and drop weights down. To be honest I did not see them doing anything else, so it seems that they were just trying to pull a prank on a newbie, as they were in great shape...
