How much can you hold strapless?
Double Overhand no chalk, no straps. I've always felt that my grip strength lags in comparison to other things, but I can hold 225 long enough to do a good solid set of 10+ shrugs fairly easily. Bump that up to 275 and I can only hold it long enough to do maybe 4. Using alternating grip I can hold quite a bit more, but I don't like doing shrugs like that, so when i go heavyer I use straps.

my grip is REALLY weak. for shrugs, i can shrug 185 for 4, but i just can't hold it past two without straps.
i can hold 155 for 6 with effort.
i will NEVER use the over/underhand grip ever again.

I can only compare my deadlift weights. I guess 145 for 5 reps would be tops and it is my grip that limits me usually. (mixed grip)

I can only compare to deadlift weight also, and i do mixed grip only. I've stood up with 600 at the gym before ( static hold) with chalk, just to see if i could do it. I should note though that they have powerbars there (bars rated to hold 1500lbs, the ones you get at sporting stores, olympic 7' bars, are rated for 700 lbs tops) are deeper gnurled than the ones at sporting goods stores. Their bars cost 250+ dollars.
I do BOR's with 200+ with double over hand and don't even have the slightest problem even on a shallow gnurled bar with no chalk.
I have to be able to hold the weight though with no straps because i powerlift. Bodybuilders are usually more lacks about it.

I only use straps if absolutely necessary and that has made my grip pretty decent. Mixed grip or double overhand, doesn't matter much. I am pretty much like Dave described, minus the 600lb. static hold. As far as straps go, I also wear Elitist eu de toilet... I can't say how much I can hold for the simple fact that there hasn't been a weight yet that I couldn't handle without aids. If you were to talk about size of forearm, mine are a little above normal but nothing humongous so I don't think form follows function in that respect.

I can do 8 with 275 overhand. I can overhand deadlift with no chalk around 350. But its not necesarily weak grip morever sweaty palms...

I can get 380 for one with nothing if I'm fresh. If I've had time to start sweating I might get 300 for 8, but I go for a mixed grip because overhand isn't really all that comfortable or secure for me in comparison, especially if my hands are slippery. I haven't done any static holds lately so I can't really compare that.
For rows I can still only hit about 150-160ish, but I have no trouble holding that with a double overhand thumbless grip.
Even if someone powerlifts they aren't tested for their ability to row or shrug barehanded, so that is really unimportant as long as you keep your grip on your deadlift solid.

There's a few out there in the powerlifting world that deadlift with double overhand. One of the owners at my gym does 600+ with double overhand. I gotta remember to ask him how the hell he can do that lol.

Hey I know they're out there, but personally I can pull more weight with a mixed grip. As I said before it is just more comfortable and secure for me.

I'm curious to where people are (if even paying attention) placing their thumbs at when gripping the bar in any exercise, the thumb plays the biggest role in a secure grip, most people may be using a "thumbless" grip and not even know it, the thumb must wrap overtop of the middle and ring fingers.
when I first got to 315lbs on the deadlift I used a "mixed grip" put placed my thumb near my index finger,(natural instinct) that wasn't a secure grip, I changed that to wrapping it around my middle and ring fingers and noticed a big differance.
I'm always using a "hook grip" now, double overhand (fingers overtop of thumb) thats as secure as you can get, but it's very painful, my training partner won't use a hook grip because of the pain, I had bloody thumbs after going over 400lb regularly using a "hook grip" but now my thumbs are tough and there is no pain.
I have pulled 380 with a double overhand reg. grip (thumbs over middle and ring fingers)
and have pulled on a 2"thickbar 265lbs double overhand.
