Plain old ignorance, I just had no idea that it was there. Then one day about 2 months ago a regular at the gym came in and said that Ronnie Coleman and some other pros were at this gym down the street. I said "what gym?", and thats all she wrote. When I went in I was sold before I even saw the big guys. Thats actually where I got the picture of me and Jay in my avatar.

I have to admit though, even if I saw this gym when I started out, I may have chosen the other one over it. Like I said before, it is a no-nonsense gym, very intimidating. Most there are bigger than me and trying to get bigger. I can use that as drive now instead of just being scared away by it.

Everyone i ask that starts at my gym all say they were intimidated as hell to start coming there. I was the same way. You usually find though that the experienced guys are more than happy to help the newer guys as long as they show determination to want to get better.

I will give you the same advice i was given: If you want to get in good with them, and make them love you, then load plates for them. Be the first there and the last to leave. Don't ask questions when they are training, and don't ask a ton all at once...it is annoying.

The guys appreciate it when others help load plates and such for them. Honestly.
