Incline Benching Angle

What's the best angle to target the upper pecs at best? I hear it's a 45 degree, however I've been training and shocking my upper pecs with incline benching at this angle for three years now and I would really like to target the area just where the shoulders and upper pecs meet which sometimes gives the impression that the two are one. Any ideas please?

I never go past 30-35 degrees...anything more and you're delts come into play way too much. 45 degrees is way too steep IMO.

Go with Todd's advice. 30 degrees is as far as I'll go.

I agree with Todd. I feel my upper chest coming best into play at about 35 degrees. 45 or more and my front delts seem to take more of the beating

Thanks for the tip guys, we have one of those any type of incline benches down the gym which has the frame angled back which makes lifting the barbell off bloody awkward. And, unfortunately the supports for the barbell are set about four feet apart which means I can't take a wide grip for stimulating the outer chest, shame really.

What grip width do people usually use on this...? Cus I've had some problems involving the chest on the incline bench and found a grip only slightly wider than shoulder width actually hits my chest better and gives it more of a stretch... Obviously, the top half of the lift is mostly tris, but I'm thinking partials may remedy this....

Any thoughts....?

hold up, hold up, 30 degree from vertical or 30 degree from horizontal?

if it's 30 degree from horizontal? wouldn't it be too much like a flat bench then?

just wondering?

please let me know.

thanks

30 degrees from horizontal...no, it's not too much like flat bench, believe me.
