Making gains

I have heard from some people that doing cardio after you lift for mass kind of reduces what you just did since 1 is aerobic and 1 is anaerobic. I have had some knee trouble, and today I tried warming up by riding a bike before working my legs. It worked really well, much better than the warmup sets and streching can do by themselves. I do shoulders before legs, so i lift shoulders, ride the bike( for only @ 5 mins) and then lift legs. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this or information about it.

If I'm doing legs I usually just jog a mile and then get in a set or two of light weight squats (hold a 35-45 lb plate over my head.) The whole idea is to warm your muscle up to avoid injury, once you've gone that far you're set.

You shouldn't have a problem, I always do a few minutes of cardio before I stretch (before any lift) to get warm. What people mean is don't lift for an hour than do an hour's worth of cardio.

I do about 10 minutes on an eliptical machine 5 minutes forward and 5 reverse and then stretch before I work my legs. Works great for me.
