Max-ot and Tendonitis

I started doing Max-ot shortly before Christmas and positively loved it. I saw great gains in strength and really enjoyed the challenge. I'm still lifting max-ot style. A couple of months ago, I noticed some snapping and popping behind my knee. It was never bad enough to do anything about and the soreness would go away after a few days.

Monday night, I was sitting cross-legged at my desk and when I got up, I had what could only be described as excruciating pain behind my knee. Walking was tremendously painful. I elevated it, alternated ice and heat and took naproxen. It didn't help. It was actually worse Tuesday morning so I ended up going to the ER because I was afraid something was really wrong. I was diagnosed with tendonitis and I'm on crutches for at least the rest of the week.

I'm really bummed to think that Max-ot caused this because I enjoy lifting that way so much. However, I've talked to other people who loved the program as well but eventually had to quit because of injuries related to it.

Has anyone else experienced this? When I'm allowed to go back to lifting again, I'd like to do Max-ot but I certainly don't want to find myself here again. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

The only thing I can suggest if you do decide to take up Max OT again is to just be careful, listen to your body and back off a bit on the weight if/when you begin to feel any kind of unusual strain or pain. Also, make sure you adhere to the 1 week's rest aspect of Max OT.

And if all else fails, you might just have to take up another training program method that involves lighter loads more frequently.
