MTV's True Life
I just recently watched an MTV specail on people who want, I guess the perfect body. One was a body builder named Anthony. Ive heard that this guy got made fun of alot in muscle mags and by the body building world in general. I dont know why though? Sure some of the things he says or does are "meathead" like, but he really isnt that far from the way I feel. To me my job is the gym and when I am there I am at work. I like keep track of what comes in my body and one day I want to be able to diet down and hit the stage. My roomate and his girlfriend thought that he was stupid. "Why would anyone want to do that," they kept saying. Well I guess to some they dont get it.
Have you guys seen this and what are your thoughts.

Yeah, I think I saw that-if it's the same one I'm thinking of. I don't understand how people could make fun of him, I mean...afterall, he wasn't just trying to hard to it and failing. He was in awesome shape, and he literally made a living off of it...not only was he competing in muscle competitions but he got a job for advertising workout equipment and the like...it goes to show that hard work in the gym pays off a lot more than some may think...not to mention, even if you don't make a living off of it...the gym will NOT hurt you.

I saw that last night. The guy was kind of a clown but you can't deny he was ripped. I always find it helpful when I see other people making sacrifices with their diets, because sometimes I feel like I'm the only one turning down bad foods.
I couldn't believe he said he was doing an hour and a half of cardio a day. Insane. I know he was training for a competition, but it seems to me this would really start to burn muscle. But hey I can't argue with his results, whatever he was doing was working. Did he ever say how long he spent lifting? I know he did claim he went to the gym twice a day, I'm assuming mornings were for lifting and then cardio at night, but I'm not sure.

Guys, its all about the acceptance of bodybuilding and stuff, like if you watch Pumping Iron with Arnie, he mentions like people see them on the street they feel intimidated and find it wierd, just like for him he would find it wierd going down the quarter mile dragstrip. But i guess alot of people can be like that beucase they dont understand what we go through bodybuilding and training and the results it pays off to a body that you can appreciate and live healthy, becuase i know in Australia and even i think in USA Obesity from young children is like the worst out of any other coutries, and the fact that we all train, brings us together on the fact that we take control of our life for how we want to build our body, instead of bumming around lazy just watching tv 24/7.
Anybody who gets off their ass and gets to the gym i respect far more than Average Joe sitting on his ass allday, becuase it takes effort and dedication, and if people are knocking this guy Anthony John, i think they are just jealos of what he has achieved.

It takes effort and dedication for a lot of things, and for the most part thats usually something to be respected, no matter what goal it is put towards.
If its the one I saw though I thought the dude came off as a prick, but thats just me. Can't deny that he's in shape though, and probably stronger than me :

To be honest, this website makes me like Anthony even more. He may even have become a little bit of a role model. The things he says and the way he acts, are pretty much the way I feel as well. You guys should really give his site a look.

Yeh, i took a look Lemieux and he is pretty interesting, and he has completed further study after graduating from High School, so obviously he cant be "a nut".
and yeh his physique is awesome, and some of the things hes mentioned on the site are interesting!.
I think people mistaken who he is and what he has achieved with natural genetics! and awesome body. Offcourse i would be a little overly syked if i stepped in his body for even 1day!, i'll get there some day

I agree! I respect and WILL GIVE CREDIT to ANYONE who makes an effort to get his butt off the couch. I know alotta people that complain about their bodies, and say they wanna get in shape, or get big, or get ripped..but do NOTHING.
Especially, knowing it's not easy, and takes alotta dedication, it is well worth it, and anyone who is not willing to admit that taking control of your body and getting healthy or staying healthy is no a seriously good thing, is frankly, an idiot...

I saw that episode also. I thought it was an extremely bad representation of bodybuilders as a whole. Although there are those types that are constantly seek "the perfect body", most seek to be the be the best they can be. I think he was too focused on this vision of "perfection" and the fact that he did not achieve it seemed to cause borderline depression!

MostMuscle, he might not have achieved his "perfection" but to my a Natural Bodybuilders Physique like that is nothing but Jaw Droppingly impressive.

I am not disputing the fact that he looked great, its just the way the show was it seemed like his entire happiness depended on how his body looked each day. The image of bodybuilders that he portrayed to the general public set the sport back even more.

Yes, I do admit, it was funny when after he lost he went the fridge and depressingly snacked on cheesecake.

did anybody else notice that when he was shaving his chest a fe days before the contest, he had a dip in his mouth?
how bad is dip for you ( muscle wise) anyway? I know it lowers the amount of nutrients that get to your muscles, but by how much?
