The bar will initially hurt if you just started squatting but after 3 or 4 sessions the pain goes away, trust me.

Like i said earlier I think, We have a chickie that competes drug free in the 148 weight class and she just squatted 385 yesterday. Now, she didn't do it raw (she used squatting briefs) but she had the bar on her shoulders without any padding.

It won't hurt after awhile, trust me. You just have to put up with it for the first few sessions. I went through it too at one point.

thats weird, the bar really never hurt my back or my neck at all since Day 1....the only thing that bothers me from time to time are my shoulders the day after from holding the bar. I found out the other day however, the benefits of holding the bar really wide as opposed to around the rings where I have always held it...much better, no pain whatsoever....:

I told ya to move your hands out .

I can't use a regular olympic bar for squatting without getting really bad pain in my shoudlers because of my shoulder width. That's why i love the squat bar at the gym. It's at least a foot longer than the regular oly bars and so it's really nice and comfortable to put my hands all the way out.

I know what you mean. I'm usually the only girl doing free weights (if not the only girl altogether). Plus I'm the only girl I've ever seen squat, deadlift and do T-rows. Even the guy that works at my gym says, "You do a lot of exercises that most girls don't do." I took that as a compliment!
