Muscle repair time

How long does a muscle take to heal until you can work it out again?

Well its like 24 hours but i don't train the same muscle group the day after neways so its not a problem for me, i'll do like bicep training the next day like triceps etc..

It all depends on how hard you trained the muscle. Sometimes a day, sometimes 3-4 days.

I agree with Gooseneck's first comment.

There are infinitely many factors that can influence how fast a muscle will recover. Beginners tend to have the ability to recover faster as they don't have the recruiting patterns developed yet to fully stimulate the muscle and fry the CNS to the extent that advanced lifters do.

1 day 2 dyas perhaps 5 or even over a week as stated there are too many factors. You need to work out your own body for yourself

Depends entirely on the intensity and volume with which you work the muscle... You could work out 6 times a day if those factors were appropriately manipulated...

So yea, stupid question...

Sorry, this is a question that cannot be answered. If you are going all out in every workout and working to failure then you need a week before working the muscles again. That's why so many people do splits.

If you want to workout more often, then do a full body workout 3 times a week but use something like 5x5, HST, or my HSST hybrid program. Which I'm due for a light day on in about 10 minutes so....gotta go. Bye.

Come on guys, it's so rude to hear answers like "it's a dumb question."

It's not a dumb question at all. xtremetris obviously had a question that he wanted answered.

Didn't you guys ask questions like this yourself this at some point?

Then by all means answer the question the best way you can. I tried, but I don't know if it was helpful or not. Didn't get any feedback from xtt. Gotta admit, there are so many variables involved...it's a hard question to answer.

I was refering to the guys who said it was a dumb question. What kind of answer is that? What is the message board for if people can't ask a question without being looked at as stupid because they asked a question?

I see this in other message boards, not just this one. It sucks because the person can be discouraged and not rejoin the conversation.

It's not a dumb question, but the answer is complex. There is more than one answer, and it depends on different factors. The original poster may not have known how complex the question was to answer.

The way I'm training now, I have 9 days rest before I do a said body part again. For some people it's a week. I have a hernia I'm trying to take care of, so I'm just being cautious, and allowing plenty of recovery time.

It depends on how fast your body recovers from training the body part. But resting a week for each exercise would probably work for a whole lot of people who want to gain muscle. You will have a lot of time for the muscle to repair and be ready to blast it again.

I have trained in a way where I was in the gym 3 times a day, and worked the same body part multiple times. And apparently this works for some people, because the rate of recovery perhaps could be sped up, meaning quicker gains.

But really, I don't think it's even necessary. I don't think there is a real need to "live" in the the gym to have a strong healthy body.

There are things like calorie and nutrient uptake that factor in. Rest factors in certainly.

Hi extremetris, asking a question is the only way to learn. as you might know, muscle is slow to rebuild so allowing a week is fine as any further training on that muscle will cause muscular degeneration. Rest is always best and muscle growth (pure muscle) is rather slow. Don't worry about what others think you do right to ask as sources of information vary.

My muscles take an hour and a half to repair.
