My shoulder problem

Hi ya'll,

Just wanted to share my current shoulder problem I have been dealing for a while. In January, I came down with a severe pain on my left shoulder. Thought I can just rest it for a few weeks and then get back into things. After the rest, the pain was still there, so I just rested another 2 weeks. Pain was not gone at all and the swelling was bad. I didn't lift for about 2 months. Swelling and pain basically forced me to stop lifting until May. I finally went to see an orthopedic. Turned out I had a bone spur which was causing the swelling and pain on my left shoulder. Opted to take a cortizone shot. The swelling went down, but I felt a little pain. Then, my ortho jumped the gun and told me to get a arthroscopic surgery. My friend, who's a general physician, told me to go seek another ortho. Turns out, the second ortho was against any type of surgery at my age (28) and recommended rehab. Lessoned learned: if you are hurt immediately seek a physician. For any type of surgery, seek a second opinion. My rehab is going pretty well. Before the cortizone shot, couldn't do a single pushup. Now, I have a full ROM and hopefully start lifting light weights soon.

Yes, both orthos said it was from over use of the shoulder (left), resulting in tendinitis, arthritis, and swelling.

Work out in the smith machine for your shoulders and chest for a while. That helped me when I was getting over my shoulder injury. The smith machine is easy on the shoulder joints. After using that for 2-3 weeks, my shoulder was strong enough for free weights. Plus I was still able to train my target muscle while using the machines.
