Next stop 300 lbs

Was time today to check in with my 1RM on the bench (Squat and d/l will follow later on this week).

Great form, had lungs full of air and squeeze my shoulder blades together for the first time. 2 plates was the result!

My triceps have a solid running start on my pectorials and anterior delts and thats very evident throughout the movement. Coming off the rack if I stick to the upper 60% of the movement 250 would be no problem. Getting down to the nitty gritty for reps that count is what stopped me at 220.

I stole a page from the box squats and using a board I found buried beneath the cable accessories laid 150 lbs on the board. Moved up 6-8", held and then back down. Hopefully this will get me "up and out of the hole" in the ensuing weeks.

I was just wondering that actually. Going from one to two plates really took advantage of that accelerated beginner curve. The fats been trimmed away from my gains now so its definitely going to be a steady haul from here on out. Christmas maybe? P/L'ers what do you think. Too soon, dare I say too far?

You, my friend, have discovered board presses. You're dangerously close to power lifting now.

Deadlift 1RM last night.

Before my 1RM would just be what I was comfortable with, still very conservative. I now realize your body will tell you when you're at your 1RM.

Warmed up with one plate in a standard stance. Progressed through the weight until I reached 250 (my usual working weight). Upped the weight with 3x singles each weight until I reached 3 plates. Decided to keep going and pulled off two clean 350 lbs reps! Went for #3 and my body just said okay thats enough. Felt like someone pulled the middle pin out of my erector set, crumpled and had to slam the weight back down.

No damage done though. Squat check-in is Thursday.

at least you ripped out two: what i hate is when i pull off a set of 4 or 5 at 'x' weight, add 10lbs and i know immediately it ain't even coming up off the floor.

that sucks.
