I'm not talking about appareance. I'm concerned about health.
I also do not consider 50 as being old. I'm more concerned with mobility/strenght/health at 85.

I think more research needs to be done as far as whether exercise increases longevity more than a calorie restrictive diet (relatively restrictive that is). But we shouldn't get caught up too much in that because we can do both. From what I've read exercise can increase life expectancy by up to 7 years but not really beyond that. But the QUALITY of life it can improve right up until the time of death.

thats more like it Todd, the reason why all the big names can defy the aging process is because they got the cash and the best doctors to fix all there health problems.

I challenge you all to look into the world of the strongmen (not Worlds strongest Man), but the natural small strongmen, great books titled "the spirtual journey of Joesh L. Greenstein" and his succesors like "Slim the hammerman Farmen, heres two guys that performed strength feats well into there 70's and always looked 20years younger, they didn't live a bodybuilding lifestyle they lifted HEAVY weights, but the SECRET to there healthyness was there diets, these men didn't eat meat, they were always on fasting diets and they were natural healers, they went through life without doctors and surgurys they didn't need it because of there diets, After reading about these guys it all really made so much sense too me.

Now, you can't sit here and tell me that bodybuilding and the bodybuilding lifestyle promotes less of a anti-aging effect than other physical activities..... you don't need more proof than this.

I don't think basketball, yogo, bicycling or any other sport or activity is going to give you the same physical or mental results for keeping you young as possible...not even close.
I think you're right about the lifestyle part. The lifestyle you lead because you are a bodybuilder is healthy and will keep you young for a long time.

If you were a runner you'd think the same thing about running, if you were a cycler you'd think the same thing about riding etc.

I don't, however, think it is just bodybuilding that acheives that. I've seen numerous pictures of men and women who have never lifted weights and look amazing if you're going to go on looks alone.

Hey, the looks part just comes with bodybuilding and living the bodybuilding lifestyle...it's an after-effect of lifting weights, eating clean to support your efforts, and getting adequate sleep.

Well, then bodybuilding (and living the bodybuilding lifestyle) will help you enhance and maximize these very aspects...believe me.

I agree also, BUT were these people getting plastic surgeries, ect, ect, thats the question here.

BIll Pearl, I haven't seen a recent pic of him, I have a video of him blowing up a hot-water bottle in the late seventies when he was in his fifties, he looked damn young, I got an article of him in my MILO issue, I'll read again tonight, if memory serves correct, he still trains everyday, and is and was a vegaterian, also the bodybuilding lifestlye was differant in his day, it wasn't chemical warfare, and it was a time when strongman and bodybuilding were the same thing, the MILO issue I have has a pic of Bill ripping a license plate in half, thats damn sweet.

Well, this is exactly what I am talking about here.... exercise, diet AND sleep. I am not talking about exercise alone, or diet alone, or any other one aspect being the prime factor in optimally slowing down the aging process...it is a combination of being consistent with all those aspects throughout your entire life. That is why living the bodybuilding lifestyle is the perfect combination...it takes into account everything, and allows you to progressively and steadily improve your health, both inside and out.

How about taking a look at this -----> http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/gastelu15.htm

Bill Grant is 58 years old and still has a better physique than guys more than half his age! Just more proof that bodybuilding (and it's lifestyle) is #1 in defying the aging process....need I say more. This guy has it all...mobility, strength, energy, etc...and he's almost 60. I think it's safe to say that if he continues to keep up his consistent training, diet and rest, that he will also have a world class body and health well into his older ages as well.

I agree. I guess it depends. If one is bodybuilding doing extreme bulks/cuts and lots of cycles on gear I don't think that's healthy. But if one is doing it without bulking/cutting, or doing healthier bulks/cuts and not going on numerous cycles of gear then ya, I'd definitely say it covers all the bases.
