play: looking good in 3 months

Hello all,

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. I'm not very experienced, but I'm not a total newbie either. So here it goes:

I've been casted in a play, which is very good news for me. I'm playing this "young man" that gets killed, but that's all details. The problem I'm having is that I have to walk around with no shirt on for about 6 minutes, which is a long time when you're on stage. The director would appreciate it if I looked cut, which I'm not for the moment. I'm not buff either... I think my shoulders and arms need most work.

Anyway, I'm not going to a gym, but I have a standard bench at home, with good weights, all free weights. It's been over 4 months since I last worked out (some push-ups and sit-ups aside). I'm not looking totally skinny, but you can tell it needs work. So I need help... good help, with the workout routine and the diet. Is there anybody who can help me look good in 3 months time (= official start of the play)?

Here is some info:
- I'm 1.94 m tall (6.36 feet according to some site)
- 80 kg (176.37 pounds according to another site)
- 23 years old

I don't get fat easily, I eat "normal" things, not too many pizzas or fries and all that kind of fat. I usually drink water, fat free milk and juice.

The goal is not looking like Schwarzenegger of course. I would say, to give you an example, something like Timberlake (take a look here: http://www.adage.com/images/random/timberlake0902.jpg)

I've read stuff on the internet about Tobey Maguire getting ready for "Spiderman 2" in 6 weeks time, etc. so I know it's possible... I just don't have the money (nor has the theatre) to get help from a personal trainer. 3 months is not a lot of time, so I really, really hope that some experienced guys can give me some pointers here!

To all those who can help me out, a big thanks in advance!

Hi. It depends on what kind of way you like as far as dieting. I prefer cyclical dieting, some people like Atkin's, other's do something more isocaloric, it's really what you prefer and what you can stick to. If you want a diet that you see results quickly, and is a "fun" diet to do, look at www.bodyrecomposition.com (the UD2). Basically the gist of it is restrict calories to about 50% of maintenance for 3 days, then carb load for two, eat about 10% maintenance for 2 days, then start over. Training is coordinated with the diet. Check the site out, read their journals and see if it is for you.
