question about a seperate day to train arms

Hi guys. What would be a good split that would allow me to train arms on their own day without risking overtaining? Also, can you recomend some exercises? My main goal is strength but i am more than willing to do some iso exercises for arms. My current split is Chest/Shoulders/Tri on Monday Back/Bicepts on Wensday and Legs on Friday. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can see what i am currently doing by looking at my journal. Thanks!

First off, why do you want to train arms on their own day?

Arith-

I reviewed your journal and I would say for now just keep the routine you have. You've only been on it for a very short time and have been making strength gains and your numbers don't look all that bad.... :

Give it a solid 8 weeks- you now have your caliper, and have been given good advice on the dietary aspects. Stick with your plan and monitor, monitor, monitor.... but don't make any changes until you have logged some time on this workout. You need the data....

Personally, I would not split arms to another day until your progression stops or slows appreciably (ie: you are reaching your true training capacity for any particular day and truly cannot improve except by reducing the volume on any given training day, splitting off, and working more intensely on another day).

Use this period of linear progression until it stops working, then think about changes.

Chi-town, baby!!! :

Thanks for the advice guys. Tuna, ill leave it alone for a while, didnt think of it that way. I wanted to change it up because i felt i couldnt give my arms enough attention after they are cashed working the other main muscle groups but what you said makes sense. I leave it alone for at least 8 weeks and see what happens. Much appreciated

I think that training arms on a separate day is a good idea. After hitting back or chest I just don't have the energy to really hit my arms hard. My consider something like this:

1- chest, shoulders
2- back
3- rest
4- legs
5- arms
6,7- rest

Just an idea.
