Question about muscle fatigue

Hello. I am new to this forum. It looks very informative. So I'l try it out. I am A 29 yr old male who enjoys fitness, especially weightlifting. I am in good shape. Weigh about 200 and am 5'10. Heres my question. I can only work out for about 2 months straight, then I usually quit for A yr or so. Extremely frustrated. I take an unusually long time to recover from A workout. Even A light one. Sometimes up to two weeks. regardless of how I approach it, my muscles seem to not allow me to get past A certain point. They feel twitchy and weak after A month or so. But start out strong. I feel weaker after two mnths than the day I started. Its extremely difficult to excel. I think its in my head. Not physical. Any help would be great. Thanks

3 keys to success

1) training regime; focus on heavy compound movements (e.g., bench, deadlift, squat), don't train a muscle group more than once a week

2) diet- you have to eat properly in order to succeed; poor diet + good regime = no results. need to eat every 2-3hrs.

3) good life-style. enough sleep, etc..

chances are that 1 of those is out of whack for you.if you're having trouble recovering, it's probably diet issue. (not eating enough/good quality foodS)

Thanks Alex. Yes you are right about my diet. I like junk food, and eat very inconsistent. I felt I could get away with it, since I was not looking for A perfect body. I didnt know A person should not work A muscle group more than once A week. Maybe I will read up on the basics of diet and excersise before I try it again. Again I am not looking for perfection, but improvement from my efforts would be nice.

why do you keep typing 'A' instead of 'a'?

diet is important. if you have a poor diet/poorly strcutured one, you will not make much progress in terms of size or strength. i learned that the hard way, you can't ignore diet. if you do, trust me, you'll stagnate and make almost no progress
