Question for those who Dip
Ok, I just discovered the joys of the “Dip” a couple weeks ago.. I have previously not been doing those, because I’m not exactly a lightweight. But, a friend of mine got me to try the assisted dip machine.. and I love it. I’ve never gotten as good of a feel in my triceps before.
Today, I hit a high spot.. when I first started doing them, I used the whole stack (100 something pounds I think..)
Today, I only needed 34 pounds assist. My short/medium goal is to be able to do them without assistance, as soon as possible.
So, out of curiosity, for those who dip.. What is your “net” dip weight?
(I know, everyone is different, but this is just for giggles curiosity)

I guess my "net dip weight" is about 286lbs for 5 reps. Just keep working your way up and you will have to use a weight belt before you know it.

Well, I weigh 260, and only needed 34 pounds of assist tonight. Im hoping to be able to do them non assisted asap..
Pullups, dips, stuff like that is (was) intimidating to me..
Im also using the assisted pullup thing too, might take me a while before I can do those unassisted though

Excellent choice of exercise!
I guess my net dip weight would be 210 (bodyweight) plus a 60lb dumbell for 8 reps.
Keep up the hardwork!

Friend and I have been doing weighted dips for a while. I few weeks back we started with 100lb dumbells and have been goin up 5 lbs a week. Most recently we got up to the 120lb'er.
so 165 + 120 = 285 (for 2-3 sets of 5 reps btw)

same here as ironman...
200 lbs bodyweight + 100 lbs = 300 for about 3 sets of 6
I have to say I was surprised by some of the numbers on here, here I was thinking I was all cool hanging a 100lb plate from my belt and doing dips, but it seems all you guys do that, lol... I don't feel so special anymore

Well heck, I thought I was doin good for only needing 34 pounds assistance!
(260-34)
I guess I need to change my medium term goal to hanging a number of plates from the belt

EDIT: Did I mention I've been doing them regularly for almost 2 years
I don't care what anyone can actually dip, so long as they are doing them, to me, they are the best tricep exercise out there, and should be a staple in anyone's routine

I have no idea what it would be fresh. I usually do dips after benching and overhead presses and stick with just bodyweight. Anyway, the last time I dipped with weight, my net dipping weight was 300 for 5 reps.
