i learned about this through a buddy... there are so many cool exercises u can do as well.. for overall
grip strength and there are so many factors
my grip and crushing hand strength has gone up a lot.. allowing me to hold heavier weights longer during certain exercises like deadlifts and shrugs...
one great site is "www.ironmind.com", get the "captain of crush" grip trainers there.. works on yur crushing hand grip strength... bascially after training with their grippers you will be able to give someone a handshake that they will never forget! (most of u have seen the grippers from sporting good stores that are pretty easy to squeeze together, thats because they only take about 30 lbs of pressure to compress) the ones from ironmind.com... have different versions... 100 lbs, 140 lbs, 195 lbs.. 280 lbs.. etc.. im currently training with the 140 lbs #1 trainer... u should start with 100lbs version.

the first exercise anyone could get started on right away who has fairly heavy dumbells at home is the farmer walk...this seriously helps on training grip strength..
another good on is called "pinch gripping" take two olympic plates (try 2x10lbs at first) and make it so the smooth side is facing out on both sides... take one of yur hands and pinch them together on the floor while they are standing upright.. and proceed to lift them while still pinching them together as hard as u can, hold them in the air together and pinched for as long as you can..as u get better u will move up to 2x25's... the average man with a pretty darn strong pinch grip strength can do two olympic 25 lbs plates together..
another great exercise to work on yur wrist and grip as well as forearm is called "levering" take a 6lbs sledge hammer of a length at least = 31 inch... grap it from the very end of the stick and try to raise it horizontally or perpendicular with yur body, so the weighted end is raising up to the sky until parallel with the ground. u can try reversing it and raising it behind u as well (involves more tricep and is easier).. this is a very tought lift however.. i found that by doing this i am able to hold much heavier weight while doing things like preacher and
reverse curls, and various others..
anyways there are a ton more exercises, ones that cost very little for equipment and u can build them yurself... ( i built a grip wrist curler/roller in my patio, with two 6-foot 4x6's and a metal poll and chain with weight attached to bottom of the chain on a bar)
that book "mastery of hand strength" opened up a new world of training for me, and it has helped me greatly in increasing the amount of weights i can lift in various other exercises just because i had stronger grip...
anyways just wanted to share my experience with others...
