Sprained wrist, been 2 months, no change...

I sprained/pulled my wrist a couple months back. Back then I kept exercising as much as I could without getting a severe pain, but then I decided to take a break from lifting. So, it's been almost 2 months now that I'm not lifting weights but the pain in my wrist isn't going away. There's no constant pain but it's sore and it hurts if I bend it backwards. I am planning to go see a doctor but not sure what he'll do since it's not broken or anything, just a pulled muscle, I'm sure. BUT how long should it take to heal????

If it's just a pulled muscle, I would think it woulda healed up by now, though ya neer know, considering the wrist is extremely fragile, and can be very tender when injured. Im no doctor...:/

If it is tendon or ligament damage, you will have to be careful with it from now on. And sometimes it can take 6-12 weeks for a sprain to heal. Give it time and when it does feel better - ease back into exercising.

My 9 year old sprained her ankle the first day of first grade before school that morning. Now she is in 4th grade and likes to go lifting, running, and biking with me - she still has to be careful of the ankle and if she overdoes it running it will swell right up.

The doc says let her go ahead run, play, do whatever and just ice/heat/wrap when it swells up. Eventually it'll get stronger. I imagine it may be the same for you. See the doc, give it enough time to heal, and when it does heal - keep taking care not to re-injure it.

It may have been a small stress fracture too - not a complete break. They sometimes take 8-10 weeks to heal. Since you kept working out right after the injury it was possibly aggrivated and just hasn't had time to heal properly.

Repeating: See a doctor, get it checked, give it more time to heal - in that order.

One of the most dangerous things you can develop when using your wrists from DIRECT wrist exercise is what big Lou develpoed. Carpol tunnel syndrome, if caught early enough you can get it treated with surgery. If not then you could end up in agonising pain. I should know, my mum has it.
