Stinging ab pain (hernia???)

When squatting yesterday, at the bottom of the 3rd rep, second set, I felt this stinging sensation on the left side of my lower abs, slightly above the hip flexor... Any ideas as to what might cause this...?

It disappeared completely within 10 minutes or so, allowing me to kill my legs off on the leg press, but as my current training is focused on HEAVY lifting and constant progress, I'd like to know what this might be and if it's likely to reoccur...

I remember hearing that this kind of pain could be hernia... Anybody know...? I'm not too keen on ending my leg workout wit organs shooting through my skin...

<shrugs> it's impossible to tell.

when you exercise, you're always gonna get pinches and stings and what-not. when that happens, you STOP and evaluate what just happened. if it goes away or stops hurting, then continue carefully. if it doesn't, then quit the workout for that body part.

you seem to have a pattern of experiencing pain and then continuing with your workout regardless. that's just stupid.

Try using a weight belt next time you squat heavy, they're supposed to help prevent hernias. If you still get the pain, take some time off from squatting. It ain't the end of the world. I haven't been able to squat for many weeks now.

Nah, I stopped squatting immediately... It wasn't a quad pain so the narrow stance leg press was perfectly safe to perform and I felt no hint of the pain during it... Besides, stinging abdominal pains and muscle cramps are hardly the same thing...

Good ish gcs... Anybody got additional info on how the weight belt can hinder the pain...? Or on possible reasons for the pain occurring...?
