Strange thing happened tonight when I did pushups??

So I'm in the fire academy and long story short our class was a little sloppy last night during inspection so we had to do pushups. These pushups are the kind where you go down and up on the instructors count and at points we have to hold the "up" position of the pushup until we are instructed to either go down again or stand back up. I'm in good shape and the pushup portion was no problem, I actually got ahead of the instructors cadence, so we had to hold the up position at one point after 10 pushups for about 30 sec. while the instructor bitched at us. Then another 10 pushups and a hold portion which again pushups no problem but this time we had to hold for what seemed like atleast a minute if not longer and when this happened towards the end my arms started to shake out of control almost convulsing violently, I swear I thought they were going to snap it was the weirdest thing. My chest didn't really seem all that fatigued but my arms were ready to give at any minute. I'm just curious does this mean I'm not in as good of shape as I thought or was this lactic acid build up. I last worked out on Monday and did chest so maybe this had something to do with it. Anyone have any thoughts?

It's normal, just your muscles getting tired. Ever done wall sits/squats where you have your back against a wall and thighs parallel to floor? After a couple minutes your legs will start shaking. Just the muscles getting fatigued.

Yeah I used to have to do wall sits when I played hockey. Those things are a bitch especially if your coach is pissed at you and leaves you sitting there for 5 minutes.
