Question

Strength versus Size pole.

Hello all

I was curious so I decided to start a thread to see if there is a correlation(duh) of the size of muscle with how much work it can do, but I am moreso curious to see what kind of weights I can expect to lift as size increases.

Please fill out your responses like this:

Height(in.): ___
Weight(Lb): ___

Chest(in):___ Bench press(Lb):___

Rt Bicep(relaxed):___ Curl(Lb):___

Thigh(in):___

Calves(in):___ Leg Press(Lb):___

* all weights are max.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

There is a correlation but you need to rephrase that sentence. The amount of work is not equal to the amount of weight you lift. If anything, you can make the case for marathon runners having a higher capacity for work than any bodybuilder so the relationship between muscle size and work capacity is: the smaller, the greater the work capacity. You need to ask yourself, and the responses you get, what the correlation between muscle size and strength is. And even that is probably setting yourself up for a weak correlation at best (assuming you're interested in this in any scientific manner because then you have to use some kind of equalizing formula to account for differences in height/weight). There should also be a category for bf%. Otherwise you could get a seriously fat guy benching 135 which would kind of throw off the idea behind this.
