Stupid things at the gym

What are some of the stupid/funny things you've seen people do at the gym?

I could fill up pages with this but I'll limit myself to one.

I was doing some light cardio (dont ask me why), when I saw this guy sudnely stop his treadmill and run outside. He was back pretty quickly, so I figured he left his lights on or something like that. But 15 minutes later he did it again. I was bored silly with the running so I decided to peek outside to see what he was doing. The guy was standing outside puffing on a cigarette, between cardio sessions. Good thing I have a good bladder or I would have peed myself.

There's this loud mouthed old guy, must be about 60 who loves to jerk and strain on every friggin exercise. Plus, he talks crap about military officers way to loudly (this is in a military gym) for his own good, I just want to tell him to shut his damn mouth and stop jerking before he hurts himself. Someone is gonna hit him with a barbell pretty soon.

damn, talk about counter-productive.

There's this guy that just joined the gym who wants everyone to know that he USED to be much stronger (aren't they all). So every single rep he does sounds like a balloon deflating followed by his rep count out loud. "SSSSSssssssssssssssss one, SSSSSsssssss two....". Its ridiculous. Then every single set he finishes ends with "sh*t!" or "god damnit!", indicating that this is far less than he is capable of. I just try to hold back the laughter as he tries to reminisce with me while I'M in the middle of a set.

This one is different DarkLord... though both are equally interesting.

Another stupid thing I see at gyms, not so much anymore since I only lift at my base gym but back in school I'd see these skinny little guys load up the bench then do that old "ass up, head cocked" lift, where they bring their ass a foot off the bench and cock their head to the side as they strain with the help of their equally skinny spotter to put it up, THEN go for another rep. Too many people think that if they get it up it warrants another rep, poor spotter ends up doing bend over rows half the time.

One of my favorites are the guys that ware their lifting belts for any and all exercises. Curls, tri pushdowns, leg press, drinking from the water fountain, whatever. Seriously, they are that fragile they shouldn't be at the gym?

hmm, i never really see anything dumb going on in my gym. The only thing I ever see is people do too much weight on the bench press and bounce it off there chest. Just the other day there was a guy benching and I thought he was going to break his ribs based on how hard he was bouncing the bar off his chest. Then there is this old guy who shadow boxes in the corner. Besides that there isnt anything, but then again I am usually the only person using the gym.

hahahhaa, I have a friend (a few ranks above me) who does this exact thing, wears his belt the whole time... oh man, that's classic

oh, and to add to my ass of the bench post, they always bounce the bar, which has got to hurt cause they don't exactly have alot of muscle off of which to bounce the bar.

oh, one more, on pulldowns, the guys that jerk the bar and pull their bodies back to lever the bar down to their chests which huge weight. I don't move my body at all when I do pulldowns and I feel a better burn.

The guy going out to smoke during cardio - that is pretty dumb.

If you can't smoke while doing cardio, you shouldn't be doing either.

this guy in the donkey calf station - first off, he had the back pad set as high as it would go and he wasn't a whole lot taller than i am. second, the pad was just above his waist, not over his hips. third, WAY too much weight. fourth, his feet weren't moving - what he was doing was some kind of mutant quad dip or something where he would bob his knees so the back pad moved up about two inches then all the way back down, his face contorted and making stupid pet trick noises the entire time. after doing that about a million times, he gets off and makes this big show of walking around on his heels saying "f- s- that hit 'em hard!". [like, how!?]

oh yeah! the shoes! he had on the biggest, gnarliest shoes i've ever seen - high-tops but undone and the laces straggling everywhere and they were so big he looked like he was auditioning for "sk8r-boi ronald mcdonald".
