Sunday night. I'm off to the gym. What drives YOU?

For me it started out for vanity reasons - and still for the major part is only that. But, now that I finally developed a real schedule and a real plan for my workouts I've begun getting incredible results. Now a workout can truly turn even the worst day into a great one - simply makes me feel awesome, besides all the added visual/physical benefits.

What drives YOU?

P.S. I'm new here - is this an inappropriate forum for such questions? If so, sorry and please move

For me it is size I was just 100lbs when I started lifting my goal is to pack 200 on my 5'6'' frame. For me it is all about size, I am tired of being the little guy.

lol this is exactly the same here, except i also care about power. im also 5'6 and i weigh about 120 pounds, and i'd be just about 95-100 if i never lifted lol. im 15. i just care about power also that way if bigger kids try to intimidate me, they get a nice suprise.

LOL, you guys missed the point...

I understand we all have physical goals, obviously!

I was more wondering as to what drives you to have those physical goals? I mean, I do it because I find enjoyment in seeing myself grow into shape, because it's something in my life that only I can control and see obvious results (or not) just because of my own decisions, because I like being able to wear a tight shirt and I think I may attract more women this way (actually maybe I should put this as #1 reason )

I don't find support in my coworkers, cuz they are just average guys, who've never been to a gym - and they're happy and they have girlfriends, etc. They think I'm crazy when I decline a piece of cake at a party... So, obviously, not everyone has these physical ideas and ideaLs.

hehe, ok now I'm just rambling.

right... i knew this. well what raelly drives me is the fact taht i jsut want to be stronger than the next guy. i want to look at myself in the miror and be happy. and thats both because i look good and because i worked hard for it. i also jsut love the feeling during/after workouts. plus, i feel better in every way when i am healthy.

Good feeling. I just feel great after a workout, and somedays when I'm really down that sends me straight to the gym.

its that feeling i get when i put my headphones on, and i drift off into my own place for about an hour, feeling the blood pump through my body, feeling the burn, pushing harder and harder on each rep.....people tell me im getting big, but i tell them its just a side effect of me going to my "place".....i guess i just love to move weight, plain and simple

Here's what drives me:

I was tired of feeling small and weak next to guys who weren't even in that great of shape.

I was sick of having a beer gut, even though I didn't drink much beer.

I was sick of coming home from work and sitting on the couch and watching tv, all the while thinking to myself "is this all there is to life?"

Since I've been working out hard and getting bigger, my self-confidence has gone up. I feel healthier, I have more energy, and I just feel better about myself in general. Even when I'm not working out, I feel like I want to go out and do things. Life is too short to spend it sitting down.

What drives me is just continually striving to improve myself, for me, not anyone else. Knowing that I can set goals and basically shape my body and put on muscle where I want to..., and knowing that all the amazing results I see as time goes on is the result of hard work I've put forth in the gym, with nobody's help.
