swimming laps

What's a rough estimate on the amount of calories spent doing 10 laps in a 50 meter pool? That being back and forth count as two.

Doesn't it largely depend on time you spend doing that thing?
I mean "swiming" burns so and so much calories per hour,
so the amount of calories you burn during that 500 meter trip
depends on how long it takes.

There must be a caloric table floating somewhere around the web,
where you can see how many calories an average person burns
while doing this and that activity,
just couldn't find it with a quick search.

Also, if you increase the speed, that burns more clories...
but then again, you're done sooner...damn, pretty hard to estimate how
much you burn.

I heard somewhere that if you walk a mile versus run the mile, you burn the same amount of calories...it's just that when you run it you keep your heartrate elevated longer, which is where the extra burning of calories takes place. I mean you're going a mile either way, less energy, take longer or more energy, take less time. Not sure how accurate that is though.

Go here www.caloriesperhour.com it has a list of different activities that tell you how many calories you burn depending on the duration and intensity of the activity.
