Symmetry

.... or lack thereof.

Last night I was admiring myself in the mirror, and I noticed something funny, but I couldn't put my finger on it. And then I took some pics of myself and lo and behold: my right chest is distinguishably larger then my left.

SO... besides acting as a strong deterrent to posing on the beach, it is also a strong motivator to do some more weight lifting.

I have had this problem before, a little over a year ago, and I don't think it has ever gone away.

I have lifted weights on and off for three years.

What should I do to fix it? I really want to go for that big chest look (without the bull-neck), but I want to fix this first (or do both at the same time).

What can I do to improve the symmetry of my chest. I know abdominal muscles are sometimes not symmetrical, and you cannot do anything about it (i suffer from this), but pls don't tell me that's the case with my chest.

Any excercises, tips, methods, give it to me.

Ok, first- are you absolutely certain you have a problem? Looking in a mirror is a very subjective thing and we never see ourselves as others see us.

(edit: I overlooked that you took photos of yourself, but still try the rest of my suggestions)

Also, Lighting and shadow can have a big influence on how we look and how our muscle definition appears in photographs.

Get a friend to take some photos or video of you from several different angles and in different lighting conditions. IE: front light, side light, daylight outdoors, indoors with flash or light gun, etc. Examine those carefully and see if there's still a problem.

Get a friend to objectively critique your form. Insist that you want objective comments and are not fishing for compliments. If nothing else, post said photos here and let us help. You'll get honest answers.

I dunno what to say except that I feel you pain. Once when I was in middle school I did somthing wierd that caused me to have a sharp pain in the inner part of my right pec for a while. Now after a few years of lifting in that very same spot musscle doesn't seem to grow. I don't worry that much cause it's only really noticeable when I flew, but it definitly is annoying. Also my right lat seems to be growing faster then my left lat which bugs the hell out of me. It's also really wierd since I can DB row more with my left side then I can with my right

i did some searching... this has been discussed before...

I'll take your advice and ask my weight lifting buddy... and I'll stick to DB bench press and drop the normal bench (I like DBs better, anyway)...

Hey,

Here are some pics of me. I cringe every time I see. Make your own suggestions to what should be done.

Highly appreciated.

I don't see a major issue. If anything your whole left side (on right side in the picture) looks a tad bigger overall, but analysing the shadows and stance, it could just be the picture itself.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep checking for balance and eveness in your barbell work.
