The Jean Claude Van Damme Look...

Hi Gang:

This may seem like a silly question, but I have read through many posts in this forum and I have read discussions on what to do to bulk up and what to do to get cut.

However, I am curious as to what you think a guy like Jean Claude Van Damme is doing diet wise and exercise wise to get the build he has? To me, he seems to have a perfect balance between bulk and looking ripped.

Obviously genes play a big part in this and I have heard he works out for hours a day.

This is the look I am after though.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Glenn

As you mentioned, It's mostly genetics.
What do you want to improve? What are your current stats? What muscles are looking to work on? What's your current diet? Are you currently working out now?

>>What do you want to improve?<<

If I could change anything, I'd like to have my stomach muscles show more. I can feel that they are there, just hidden a little bit! I don't have a lot of fat, but enough that it hides my stomach muscles so they don't have that washboard look to them. ( come to think of it though, even as a kid I never did have a washboard stomach) So, I guess I'd like to lose a bit around the waist.

I have been working out for years, but I have been making a big effort with diet in particular the past couple of years. People who have not seen me for some time have commented that I look leaner as they can see it in my face, so the routine I am working with does appear to have me losing weight...slowly. Having said that, I am building muscle as I can see it.

It's the ripped look I am after for sure. My wife thinks I am big enough!

>>What are your current stats?<<

I am 42, 5' 10" 185 lbs. and I would say that I am pretty solid.

>>What muscles are looking to work on?<<

I currently work all major muscle groups so I get a full body workout, not looking to change anything really, just maintain and get more of a ripped look.

>>What's your current diet?<<

I eat the usual stuff talked about in this forum, low...high quality fats, quality proteins and carbs. Several meals per day and according to the Fitday program I take-in somewhere in the neighbourhood of 2500 calories per day.

>>Are you currently working out now?<<

I do 40 mins of cardio 3 times a week on an elliptical machine and free weights on alternate days, 3 times a week with one day off.

I would very much appreciate any thoughts on how I can become more ripped or VanDammish!

Thanks, Glenn

How about killer genetics and doing heavy strength and competitive martial arts training for 35 years......?

Really tho, if you wanna grow, just lift heavy and eat more than you need...... If you wanna cut down, lift heavy, eat at maintenance level and do frequent cardio sessions...... Not much more to it than that......
