I seem to get a lot of support theres only a few people that may joke or talk behind my back and say you think you can be like the strongmen on tv ha! ha! and it's usually other guys who are probally jealous. I've had a few guys and gals that I work with drive an hour to watch me compete. I have the pics of my last contest hanging in my office. Some of the girls that I work with have already asked me for directions to my contest in august. My neihbors ask me when my next contest is or they will watch us train and ask how much is that and just shake their heads the kids in the neihborhood always watch us workout Ive had people ask me to help lift things for them. The girl that I'm seeing now,when she found out what I was doing (she didn't know at first) and she thinks it's awsome and she has talked about wanting to workout with me. I don't eat sweets and I stay away from fast food at work I just eat fruits and a sandwitch or 2 and I eat pretty big at dinnertime and I don't need to watch my calories because my training is so crazy it's easy for me to look good. So when people ask why I don't eat junk I tell them that I don't have any desire for it and I don't crave it witch beleive it or not I don't. And people just say I wish I was like that. I do share desert when I'm on a dinner date and after hours of training strongman events I do need a chocolate bar.

luke: i definitely know what you mean about not craving the junk food anymore. i used to eat it ALL_THE_TIME when i was at school, but if you go about a month without, you dont even want it anymore. sure every now and then a little bit of a craving comes back, but just the thought of a cheeseburger... just not appealing to me anymore. its awesome.

Keep liftin, I know it's hard to replace a wonderful spotter like me but you gotta get big. Later man... and keep checking the site I made, stuff changes almost every week.

Yeah, I don't even like any carry-out food anymore (pizza/pasta/sub shops) I'm 26 and still go over my parents house and eat dinner on the weeknights my mom makes very healthy salads "egg,chicken,shrimp,tuna" and my dad makes all his meat sauces for pasta dinners from scratch it's hard for me to find the time to cook alot,and my mom likes for me to come down so she can see me "even if I eat and run". I say why not I'm sure their food is helping my strength anyway and the thing I look forward too the most is eating a big homemade dinner after training. If I eat carry-out I can't finnish it because it tastes like crap and makes me fell like crap too I don't see how some people can live off that stuff.

Yeah it's weird... I used to NEED fast food at least once every couple of days... now I cringe every time I see the menu at just about any fast food restaurant

yep, that's the same way i am. the few times that i do cave-in and eat a cheeseburger or pizza or whatever, afterwards i'm just thinking "Why? that did absolutely NOTHING for my body." and i just feel tired and lethargic. in a way it's almost like when you start eating healthy, your body tells you and reacts to how nutritious the food you ate was. if i eat something healthy like egg whites or fruits, i get an energy burst from it and i feel great, but then pizza or whatever just makes me feel like garbage.

You do this just for the girls then ?
Lifting for me isn't about becoming the biggest and getting chicks with my big muscles. I don't know about you, but the kind of lifting i do, powerlifting, 4 days a week, crazy eating habbits... now many girls like that kind of stuff. I'm doing it for self improvement and because i like what im doing.

everybody does it for different reasons Dark. granted doing it for girls would make one, generally, less likely to go through with something and complete it, but hey if it gets the job done, it gets the job done.
i dont think he was being serious anyway about that point.

No I wasn't being totally serious. I just want to have a physique I can be proud of, one that is better than most people's. I also want to live past 50, which most of my friends (who practically live at Taco Bell and In'n'Out) probably wont do.

The way I see it...
Some people call me obsessed, but I just figure "obsessed" is a word the lazy use to describe the determined.
Simple as that.

thats very mature and intelligent of you. if they want to eat themselves to death, that's their problem and those are complications that they're going to have to deal with further down the road in life. from the sounds of it you're young as im assuming your friends are too. once their metabolism slows down, they're REALLY gonna start putting on some serious weight, and once that starts, its all downhill from there unless lifestyle habits are seriously changed.
congratulations on being one of the people that are smart enough to realize you've only got one body, and you've got it for the rest of your life so you might as well take care of it and make the best of it that you can!

Ah....my life has definitely improved since I've become a lifter 2 years ago.
My health has improved, my physique has improved. And most importantly, my confidence and self-image has improved dramatically! Hell, when you've been a puny 5'2" female all your life who was NOT athletically inclined, and suddenly you're lifting heavier weights than many men, it certainly does wonders for your mental health.
I find that instead of drawing ridicule or sarcasm I seem to inspire others. About 2 months ago I began to bring my girlfriend to the gym with me and now I've got her started on a good lifting program. And she enjoys it - that's the important thing!
I'm at my happiest when I'm at the gym....and I feel like crap if I haven't been able to go for a few days. I keep asking myself: who would have thought it? But sometimes life throws you a curveball, and you find yourself accomplishing things you'd never dream of in a million years.

thanks for the kind words. Yes, it is very tough since these guys have been my friends my whole lives (we are all between 18-20 yrs) but once I went into my weight training/new diet program it immediately alienated me from many activies with them (ie LAN parties )
but its amazing since i'm meeting new people at the gym who have lots in common with me, basically want to make a change in their lives. one guy who has the exact same physique as me asked me to spot him on benchpress (i was done with my full workout) and eventually we got to talking and its amazing how much we have in common in terms of dealing with peer pressure and such. i told him about the max-ot program which he is very interseted in and we are discussing it over AIM (i also linked him to this board).
once again, yes its hard as hell, but if I could look even half as good as guys like Todd here, it will be worth every extra rep and skipped big mac.

trust me, i used to be there. i used to be EXACTLY like you. man all through high school, i was addicted to CounterStrike (or CounterCrack as many of us called it). once i got more into exercise and stuff i started hanging out with more athletes and lifters and people more conscious about themselves (and hot girls ). Max-OT is a pretty good starting-out program, although it'll end up building you more strength than it will size, the size gains will still be present and obvious. if you dedicate yourself to it, you can make the lifestyle changes necessary and then looking back on it you'll just be able to say "man, what was i DOING all those years before?" and you'll never go back to that. but yeah back to Max-OT, i managed to drop my body fat and gain it back in about 10lbs of muscle through the 12 week program. i cannot stress enough though, EAT PROPERLY! AND ENOUGH PROTEIN! AND TIME YOUR CARBS CORRECTLY!
Kenyon on Max-OT
Weight: 185->185
Body Fat: ~18->~15
Bench: 1RM 165-> 1RM 210
didn't test the squats for 1RM, but they went up about the same proportionally as the bench did. did i add that squats are a real bitch at 6'4? cuz they are. stick to it and give it your all and you can reach your goals
if you have any questions about anything just gimme an IM sometime on AIM: stittle21
