Thick Back Wide Back


So i hear pullups would be for a wide back as Rows would be for a thicker back. Just wondering if this is true.

Pulling towards the trunk will thicken the back, pulling down towards shoulders will widen.

Reverse grip pulldowns are the bread and butter of lat building from what I've learnt.
