Things I have learned

I'm still here even though I've failed to post. Waiting I guess for something important to say. So here it is

Things I have learned over the past few years of training:

Max OT style lifting builds muscle WAY better than anything I’ve tried so far. At the same time Max-OT style is way too much stress on joints, tendons, and even muscle to continue for long lengths of time without a break. IMO, the older one is the more frequent breaks he or she needs. I think its best to cycle Max-OT style in with less strenuous methods of lifting. I am currently doing 1 week of Max-OT style (4 days of lifting, 1 day of aerobics) followed by a week of heaver aerobics and condensed lifting (3 days of aerobics, one of which is short but intense intervals, 1 day full body lifting -1 set per lift, 20 reps. I think women would benifit in a big way if they were to cycle in Max-OT style lifting.

Intense HIT style aerobics make me feel better, look better, and control fat better than anything else including lifting weights. I went 6 weeks doing only Max-OT style lifting while doing no aerobics and gained a lot of muscle but never felt, and looked worse (not Max-OT style of lifting’s fault, I just simply left out aerobics). IMO, unless one has experienced HIT style aerobics, he or she doesn’t know what its like to both look and feel good. I can particularly see the difference in how my face looks especially underneath the eyes. Subtle discoloration and bags have started to appear. I think there is a lot of people with muscle that don’t look and feel even close to as good as they could if they would add a day of HIT style aerobics.

Nothing comes close to the effectiveness a C2 rowing machine has on overall aerobic fitness. Not only does the activity require the use of upper and lower body muscles in a very smooth natural motion, even more significant is the motivation the monitor provides. Most people do not know that the C2 monitor is well known for its accuracy. I can (and do) compete against people all over the world from my own garage. It will record each interval I did during the workout so that I can try and do better next time—great for motivation. And no I don’t have any affiliation with C2

There is more that I could share but overall I think these are the most significant. Anyone else?

Dan

They are not HIT aerobics, they are HIIT. I have not done Max-OT, but my best results, muscle gain-wise, have come from HST.
