Training Partner

Who here trains with a partner ? Who finds they get more out their workouts due to the pursuation of that person than anything else. I've often wanted to train with one or two particular people down my gym as they have the right attitude, they aren't lazy, they are dedicated and they push to the limits. However finding the right training partner is quite hard as there are many slackers and YOU could be the one who has the motivation of fire inside yourself. So..would you prefer to train with someone else most of the time or do you know best for yourself?

While extremely beneficial, finding an excellent training partner is very difficult indeed. A good partner I feel would be more knowledgable, more serious, stronger and more dedicated than yourself. Unfortunately, most people are not and I end up finding that I am doing 99% of the motivating etc, which I don't mind most of the time, but even the most positive/motivated person could use some support. Need to find that person who is going to get me into the gym when I refuse to do it myself :.

End of story.....I train alone (bummer).

I find that a training partner usually holds me back so I generally train alone. I'm still looking for that ideal partner. My definition of ideal is a bit different from MM's though. Ideal for me is someone that will (a)show up. (b)work hard. And (c)be there when I need a spot (and know how to do it) so I can someday return to heavier lifting instead of playing with the baby weights I'm stuck with for now.
