Stress perhaps? Peer pressure can be hell at 13. You are young (according to your profile) and at the age where lots of changes and growing is taking place. . Relax and try not to worry about not sleeping. You may be keeping yourself awake just worrying about not being able to sleep! Don't resort to drugs to help you sleep without seeing a doctor first.
What's your diet like? Do you drink a lot of caffienated soft drinks or coffee in the evening?

first thing you need to do in order to get rest is calm the nervous system down. that means no strenuous activity an hour before bed, otherwise you have all that adrenaline sloshing around looking for a way out. don't eat for an hour before bed, either - the digestive process can interfere with tryptophane production and result in disordered sleep.
second thing is to calm the mind - if something is bothering you, you need to either resolve it or just put it out of your mind because now it's time to sleep and there's nothing you can do about it anyway.
a glass of warm milk will help sleep - it contains tryptophan, which is your body's trigger to sleep.
white noise can help, or one of those natural relaxation CDs - my favourite is called "natural relaxation"; i haven't made it through the whole disk yet because i conk out about halfway through.

err... if you're "going crazy", then you're not exactly "laid back" any more, are ya?
it could be your age: you might be hitting a hormonal phase that's messing things up.
have you talked it over with your doctor?

As Gearloose said, unless it has been going on for like a month, dont worry about it. Being concerned about not sleeping can lead to sleeplessness. I've been there. Sleep is a delicate procedure, its quite amazing. From time to time it WILL go wrong, accept it. It make itself right in time. Go to bed at night, dont think about sleep, accept that u will not sleep, accept that u will be tired the next day(for the next couple of weeks). If u fall asleep by chance then its a bonus.
