Would there be more advantages (GAINS) in size and/or strength in doing a program of say 8-10 sets of 3 reps per set per exercise not going to failure every five or so days as opposed to doing a standard Max-OT type workout of 6-9 sets total per bodypart going to failure?
Obviously the weight would be heavy, but would not cause failure on the 3rd rep, and I guess you would do say 3 different exercises per bodypart, so that would make 30 total sets for chest for example. High volume, low reps, low intensity I figure...
Any adavantages to that over the other? Just wondering?

well, we all know you like the higher intensities Todd, , and I am doing that currently, I just feel like I need a change and I was wondering if there were any inherent advantages to doing more sets of a few reps as opposed to good old fashioned max-ot. I don't want to just change the routine for the sake of change, I want to change to something that will be good for me
Hey, I hear ya! Well, I say all you can do is try your other option and see how it goes...it's hard to tell if it will be good (or just how good) for you without actually giving it a REAL try! I say go for it, throw in a change and see how you respond. Listen to what your body is telling you, and look for any true improvement in strength and/or size after about 3-4 weeks. Then make your assessment of whether the change is good for you or not.
