Weighted Dips

I think most of you can agree that this is one of the all mighty size builders for pecs and secondary, triceps. What I find difficult is training my triceps on the day I want to do tricep training I find it difficult to do weighted dips that involves mostly tricep work. On the day I train my chest it's easy to do tose type of weighted dips. How can I keep my posture more erect for tricep dips ?

Dips don't train the triceps as a secondary, they're a prime mover. Don't try to split the exercise... you're just limiting the benefits.

Agree with Dan.

Dips aren't an isolation exercise, imo treat them as an overall upper body exercise. They're the best!

Yes, but that's overstating the case. Actually both ways hit them both, just one a LITTLE more one way, vice versa the other way. It's a compound exercise which will do more than one thing for you no matter how you tweak it.

Leaning forward will still give you big sexy triceps.

so do dips still have the same immense benefits for the lower chest as well as the triceps when leaning forward?

Bajwa - don't fall into the trap of trying to work the "lower part" of the pectoral or the "middle part" of any muscle, etc. muscles work, period - you can't isolate one section over another. doing partial curls, for example, won't build the "peak" on your biceps - the shape of your bicep is genetically determined and the only way to change its appearance is to change body fat levels or the size of the muscle itself.

i disagree, but going into any detail here would be an endless hijack I'm sure.

BTW, make sure you keep your hands behind your back to get more focus on the triceps during dips.

I use dips as my only chest exercise so leaning forward wouldn't be such a good idea.
