Weightlifting for bodybuilding?

Do olympic lifts (powerclean, snatch, c&j) help for better hypertrophy for bodybuilding? Or are they just for explosiveness and show and not worth the effort?

They could help provide a foundation of strength and power that could probably help you make better gains on a hypertrophy program. I think a bodybuilder could benefit from doing an OL exercise first thing in their workout and then moving on to a more traditional bodybuilding style routine after the OL. They are definitely not for show though.

The best looking bodybuilders are those that are strong also. Their physiques not only look muscular, there is a certain ruggeddness and toughness to their look also. So yeah, include those lifts in your routine as well.

Olympic liftes, especially power versions have a big carry over to shoulder structure and hypertrophy.

Wow, good replies! When I left this site it seemed as if it was being taken over by beginners. Yes these lifts are working muscle too aren't they? They are damaging muscle which induces hypertrophy, correct?
