Most people are a definite combination of two...or at least most people display evident characteristics of two body types. The odd person you can look at and say "he/she is definitely ecto or meso", etc.

Delicate Built Body - Yea.
Flat Chest - no I have always had a bigger chest before even working out
Fragile - lol.. in mosh pits yes
Lean - Yea
Lightly Muscled - Yes
Small Shouldered - my shoulders are quite big :P
Takes Longer to Gain Muscle - Nope
Thin - Yep

Todd are you an ecto? If you are.. you are my inspiration.. lol

Yes, I am naturally an ectomorph. Before I began lifting I weighed 150 pounds at a height of 5'11". I was skinny as hell. I have small joints and long arms and legs. I am naturally lean with an extremely fast metabolism. I am a classic textbook ecto.

The first pic is what I looked like back in 1995 when I first started training. Look at my legs and arms and overall mass (which there is none). Pretty funny stuff!

The second pic is a contest pic of me dieted down to the nubs. I weigh 178 there, but big difference in body composition.

Awesome. Wow those are some major changes. You are my role model..hahah

Yea im not that far off, 6'1 142 lbs. Fast Metabolism, and long limbs.

The first time I saw that pic a while back, I had noticed that you had a lot of definition I was saying to myself, wow I wish I looked like that

Ill post my results in a couple of months. Thanks.

Edit: I have a question for you. In all your working out experince which has helped you gain the most weight? Has it been the change in diet, or being at the gym constantly pushing yourself to new limits?

The answer to this is BOTH. Diet and pushing myself to new limits is what got me to where I am now and helped the most with gaining weight. Without either of those, I wouldn't of gotten to this point. The trick is to be consistent with both...that and getting enough rest each night.

Once you learn how many calories it needs for new growth, the rest is easy. You then just have to make sure you get those calories each and every day ON TIME! Meal timing is super critical when you've got a super fast metabolism, like me. You miss one meal and your body will go into a negative growth stage (catabolic).

As well, without always stimulating new growth in the gym, your body will not grow at all too. So, as long as you consistently take your intensity levels to new heights, train intelligently (meaning not lifting too heavy for the muscle group you're targetting), and take in enough clean calories to foster new growth, you WILL see results.

Yes, it can take a while to gain quality muscle, but being ecto you have to ensure your eating enough and are always consistent with rest, diet and training. We ectos can gain just as fast as the other people, but we just have to be smarter about how we eat, when we eat and how much we eat in order to make gains happen. It all comes down to figuring out what your body needs...and how much of it at particular times. :

hey guyz, glad to be back in here after a long break.
Im a typical ectomorph, thin bones, almost no muscles... etc..
i started abt a year n half ago with 51kgs, .. now im 65kgs. I havent been consistent at all, cuz im in a medical program and busy with xams, clinicals etc.. but hey, no excuses for not bein consistant...

however, i've had some issues with fat. from days when i felt my weist of 29incs i am now around 34" and growing. I've not attempted to do any exercise which burns fat.. i did only bulking up routines and eat almost everything in site..

doing cardio workouts right now isnt feasable as i am out 12hours a day in hospitals.

I would like to kno if there's anything i can do to stop getting fat over ma abs.??

Since you cannot exercise or do cardio, the only thing you can do is to get your eating habits on track. By this, I mean try eating small nutrient dense meals every 2-3 hours throughout the day. Eating often will help speed up your metabolism and get your system running more efficiently.

Drink plenty of water througout each day as well. This will rid any possible water retention you might have.

Hope this helps you some! Take care!

I'll never hate you for that Vas. I just like it and hate that I can't do it right now. It is soooo good for the heart. You youngin's aren't so worried about the heart yet. Us old guys gotta take care of it. However, if I hadn't gotten accustomed to it - I too would have loved not having to do cardio in the beginning. I'm probably going to hate it when it's time to start again though.
