What size suit do you wear ?

I'm in the market for my first suit, havign difficulty finding one that fits.
My chest size is 40-41 (naked). I tried 42 size suit in store today - it ws binding n the arm, about 5 inches from where the arm stiches into the rest of the suit. 44 was a bit better.
What size do u guys wear ? How tall are u and whats your chest size ?

I had problems with suits as well. Luckily I don't have to wear them as much anymore. I am a 40 chest and a 32 waist... Generally a 40 chest comes with pants that are 34. Having 34 pants taken in two sizes will have the pockets touching in the rear... I had to buy athletic fit. I am 5'9" 155-160 pounds.

I would suggest going to a shop and speaking with the taylor. Pick his brain even if you are not going to buy there. Spend the money if you have too on a good suit. A good traditional suit will stay with a traditional style.. two button, it will not go out of style.

I think the last time I wore a suit was in 1974 (aside from the day I got married).

Size 10-12 or 14 depending on the make and vanity sizing in women's clothes.

(I have broad shoulders for a girl.)

Like Scott says, suits generally come with a standardized 6-8 inch drop from the jacket to the pants. If you're not the 'standard' size, like many of us are not, then you'll need some alterations.
Because it is generally easier to alter pants vs the jacket, get a suit where the jacket fits as closely as possible, then get the pants altered by a decent tailor, there shouldn't be a problem with that.
Alternatively, you can get a sport coat and buy the pants seperate. Nothing wrong with that.
Also, if you're going to be wearing a suit regularly, I'd recommend finding a place that will custom make shirts to size. I found a place and for $50-60 /shirt, I get comfort, quality and durability. gl

44.5" chest. 32" waist. 6' tall. I just buy my pants and jackets separately. Now that the pleated, loose pants are out and the tighter straight front pants are back in, I'm going to have to stay out of style. I'm not wearing straight front for any reason.
