What To Do?!?!

As you probably read I took a week off last week....2 days into it and I got a stomach virus which meant I could barely eat for the rest of the week...so basically had a week off with VERY little eating...started back at the gym on monday...had a decent Leg and Bicep workout...then came today...the first thing: I usually train with 2 other people, so when it comes to dumbell press, I have someone to hand and take a dumbel on each side of me...one person could come today and there was noone else in the gym that could help...so I thought ok...Ill just try and lift the weight in myself....looking for the 40KG dumbells and find out that one is broken....ok...I decide to just do 37KG instead...find out that is broken as well....getting very angry now....decide to do benchpress instead....could barely lift 70KG for some reason...(my peak was 100)....at this point I was so pissed off I just went home...what do I do now? If I hadnt had a week off the gym last week I wouldnt be too pissed...but the fact its now been over 2 weeks since I had a decent chest workout....and now I have 2 wait a whole other week to try again....I cant explain how angry I am right now.....how much is this going to affect my chest?

And that, my friend, is why we do high frequency full-body work...

Really doe, eat big this week to get back in, and squeeze a lower volume chest workout into a day later in the week if you're so worried... Muscle memory is a wonderful thing, and the strength and size lost will soon return, so no need to fret...

Oh, and start kicking the DBs up for yourself ya big girl...

Exactly.

Again. Seriously though, two weeks "off" won't do anything. You probably won't even notice any strength loss at all when you have your next chest workout. So just chill, all that worrying and agression is putting your cortisol through to roof and that will eat your muscles for sure.

I wish I could do these exercises without 2 people to lift in the dumbells but its impossible! There is no way I could lift in 40KG dumbells to the starting position, THEN do my reps, and THEN hjave to still have the strength to bring them back down safely! I dont see how people can do that. I just wouldnt feel safe!

Hmm... have you tried getting your feet in position over the bench, preparing yourself, getting up both dumbbells in an almost clean motion, then getting into starting position? Try that. And dumbbells are pretty tough bro... I doubt you will hurt them by dropping them from the bench after you are done. Just do what you can to make sure they don't hit too hard

Well how much weight CAN you lift alone...? Having lifted without a spotter for my entire 'career' I typically suggest you don't use weights you're not in control of...

If you insist on keeping it up wit the 40s, try hanging the DBs from the bar in a Bench rack, get in position and just lift them off from there...

I am in control of the weights when they are handed to me in the starting position, and have seen excellent results from doing them...I dont think doing it this way is wrong...even if i could, I would never lift heavy without a spotter...better safe than sorry!
