Workout Partner Having Prob with Squats & NeckPain

My workout partner has a problem with neck pain when she does squats. I've told her to bear the weight across her shoulders and not on her neck, which she tries to do. The thing is that she has narrow shoulders that slope forward quite a bit, so she's not really build the roll the bar back to far. Any suggestions?

roll a towel around the bar, have her put her thumbs on the same side as her fingers, and place her hands as close to her shoulders as possible. this will make her traps bunch up more and provide more padding.

If they take threenorns' suggestion with the very close grip, make sure that they know NOT to grip tight at all. Many people have a tendency to try and military press the squat weight with a close grip, especially if it's tight. So beware!

she's not to actually grip the bar at all - just press it forward. bar ain't going anywhere.

You could also have them lighten the weight so that way they could focus more on their form.
