Thank you for the article. I found the part about the women's only section of the Gym interesting. After about three weeks in the women's section at my Gym, I ventured timidly out into what I now call the Grown up section. I was overwhelmed by the helpful input from people who had obviously done this for quite some time. Very positive experience, no one wants to see you hurt yourself and if you don't interupt someone in the middle of a lift (I've seen it done) everyone is great.

So, can any of you ladies send me a workout for my wife (I would start from a Full-Body)?
She never did weights and she wont go to the gym so please, only exercises you can do at home
Thanks

When I was younger and afraid that people would think I was weird for lifting weights I had an big iron horses head (maybe 5lbs) that I used to use for my exercises.

Great Article!
I am a beginner with weight training but I had a trainer set me up with a routine that works all the muscles big and small and I complete it in about an hour(seems like less time because it's really fun) Since my main focus is burning fat right now I am using light weights(12lbs) but moving from set to set with barely any rest.I can feel the muscles burning by the end of each set and I am breaking a sweat and my heart rate is at a cardio level. I hate treadmills and those machine's because they are just so boring! Working out with weights really makes you feel good and brings that mind body connection together. Unlike the treadmill, feeling that soreness the day after really makes you feel like you are making a difference!
Thanks
Kathy

She got dumbells with plates from 1.25Kg to 15Kg and a Barbell, but she doesn't want to use it (yet)..
I made a plan for her but I'm not sure its the best to start with can you please critisize it:
Full Body:
Dumbell lunge 2X15
DB Straight leg deadlift 2X10
DB Bent Over Row 2(each side)X15
Push Ups 2 sets
DB Pull Over 2X10
DB Triceps Extension 2X15

This is an incredible article, this is GREAT!
Aagghh it has so beautifully said what I wish I could squeeze into the brains of women who have those very complaints.
Brava, nicely stated, good job, and wonderful article!!

This article sounds great but I'm one of those girls that will get big and that is exactly what happened. I use to do cardio and weights. I really got into it so I thought I would get a trainer. At first it was great. I really trusted him. Then he got really into heavier weights. he said you have to build to burn. I listened to him and got really to big for what I wanted. Now I am actually trying to lose some muscle with out gaining weight. I am 6'1 and broad. I wanted to have long lean muscles and I just bulked up! Now my body is going through some strange things. I haven't trained in 2 months. After I quit my muscles still grew and I just got bigger. How long do you guys think it takes to lose muscle? Of course I don't want to lose all of my muscle so I think I will start doing pilates. I am almost afraid of weights. He also pput me on a wacky diet, all protien. Egg whites, protien bars, fish and chicken. For about 2 months. After I started eating normally i put on about 5 pounds over he muscle. Ok, I need advice. Thanks
