Are deadlifts for womans?

Okay I just started training with a trainer and he knows my ultimate goal which is to be tight and lean at about a size 2....the only thing is he has me doing stiff legged deadlifts....and when I told my brother this is said why would u do those they are for uilding strength and are going to make u bigger....and that is kind of the impression I got from what I read....Is this going to make me like j lo or something? I do not want that look....Is this going to make my butt bigger?

I think your brother is misinformed. Check out this advice specifically for women

I have alternated between stiff leg deads and regular deads.

Women don't generally have the ability to gain much size when it comes to weight training (unless you're hitting the juice or dedicating every minute of your life to training).

In other words: a couple of deadlifts ain't gonna give you a big butt.

You want to look lean and tight? Then worry about losing the bodyfat, and ensuring that you have some hard muscle underneath to show off.

thanks that was a very good read. I will keep them in the routine. It's hard to believe that such a small cariety of exercise can do that much work!

You'll become what you are destine to become.

If you have the realistic potential to be a tight lean size 2 then go for it.

I guess it is not only women who think that weight training exercises make you big! I'd say "strong" is an asset to what you want to be. Strong does not have to = bigger.

SLDL are very popular in the video workout crowd and a nice alternative to leg curls.

Thanks for the articles lady C!
