In my experience all cardio activity stimulates fat loss for me even a simple 12 min. walk!

Sorry I don't have more to offer than that since I don't have fat retention issues.

dragging a steel-rimmed car tire with car batteries on it - three on a dirt road (about 110lbs), two in town on the sidewalk (about 80lbs).

Performing activities that require greater amounts of energy will contribute the most to fat loss ... especially when coupled with responsible eating habits. 'Kicking butt' will always do more than walking (especially in terms of time efficiency).
