Calorie intake vs. Calories burned

Hello Ladies~~~

I have a question for you all.

I have been keeping a food journal--this past week. & I have noticed that my excercise level is much higher than my food intake. Or in other words I burn my calories than I take in.

For example I burn approx 1000-1100 calories a day. ( 4-6 mile walk everyday, crunches, weights, cardio, etc. approx 4 1/2 hours of excercise a day)

I thought I had a really high calorie level. Before I started calculating everything. & realized I am probably only taking in........700-1000 a day. (This is with 3-4 meals, usually I eat low calorie foods. Like ham sandwiches with just meat & bread, low calorie soups, etc)

Have any others of you ever done this...lol?

I know your calories burned needs to be higher than Calories taken in....But is this healthy?

Not with that much activity - it is not healthy. You are overtraining and undereating. Cut back on your workouts or DOUBLE your intake. I personally think you have some issues (body image?) that need to be figured out. You certainly do not NEED to lose more fat. No one works out 4 1/2 hours per day unless they are competing for an event.

[not laughing ] No, not even when I was preparing for a BB competition did I ever go that far.

I agree with this. I know you said you are a bodybuilder. If you are contest preping then it may be very temporarily acceptable, but 4.5 hours of exercise is rather excessive at amateur levels. Plus doing weights and or cardio every single day is hard on your central nervous system. Growth and repair is what happens when you relax and nourish your body systems.

There comes a point where "more" is not better. Work smarter not harder. I don't think you'll find much company for your current lifestyle amongst members whose fitness goals are based on sustainable lifelong good health. On the other had we can certainly help point you in the direction of how to modify your goals and plan.

You are still working too much! Cut your walks out or only 1 day per week or DOUBLE your calories.

: I am going to double my calories!!!!

My low calorie intake was not intentional. I Didnt realize how low they were until I started calculating. ( I dont get hungry easily, I just stuck with the same routine I had before I started working out. My bad!) I have been trying to up my calories the last 2 days & will continue to do so. Thank you for your advice & concern.

Regardless of what you might Think. I dont have a low self Esteem. Just have a goal & am trying to meet them. We all have goals.

I love the way I look.

Hope this clears things up. If not, we can talk more later.

Great thanks for clearing that up. :

Actually, most people underestimate their calories. Some might think they are eating 1200 calories and actually are eating 2000. They can't understand why they are not losing until they actually calculate their true intake and make adjustments.
