Cellulite. UGH!!

Okay, so according to my professor cellulite actually just means “fat”. We misuse it’s term everyday to describe the dimples/ hell damage that many women including myself suffer from, and I do stress suffer, as in it makes me sick! I can’t recall exactly how long I have been noticing it, but at least 10 years. I don’t know what my BMI is but I am by no means obese, unless compared to a fitness model. It upsets me so much that there are women that don’t do squat and still don’t have to worry about cellulite! What the heck! No matter how much I run, or work out, the cellulite is still there. Both my grandmother and mother, who are fairly petite women, have it worse than I, so I am assuming it is somewhat hereditary. My mother swears to me that mine is not that bad, but when I hold a mirror up and look at my posterior end, I do not like what I see. I have been so distraught over it in the past that I refused to wear shorts or a skirt for a very long time. I have tried creams, tanning, tanning lotions, rolling pens…you name it and I have tried it. Still, unfortunately, nothing works. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, but I think I am also starting to see the beginnings of varicose veins…YUCK!! What is happening to me? http://www.fredysnet.com/id68.html is a webpage that pretty accurately describes cellulite. I know the facts about cellulite on a molecular level, but I’m still just hoping for some random miracle! So if anyone has any input, I'll take it!

Not necessarily, but that particular thread sure was a popular one and all I wanted to do was call it to your attention.

I personally was at around 20% BF and sill had cellulite on my inner thighs. It's been there forever, and probably always will be. It's not too bad. The stretch marks from when I was pregnant are way worse and more visible lol. The cellulite doesn't seem as bad anymore it seems to have gotten a bit better, and I have more body fat than before as I haven't worked off all the pregnancy weight yet. Which is weird. (the cellulite thing not the weight lol)

I think when I drink more water it's less noticeable. That is the only thing I've actually noticed though. For the most part I ignore it.... or try to.

I have the same problem..I do think it runs in family's as every woman on my moms side has it too
I do know here where I live you can get it "worked" on so it will go away, but its very expensive and you need to keep up on it.

But what do they do when they "work" on it?

I've also heard some ladies say that massaging the areas affected help with the appearance too.

I, too, am curious about what you're referring to when you talk about having cellulite "worked" on. What specifically do you mean?

PS: Spider veins respond pretty well to laser therapy, I believe. I've only had one, and it was treated with two laser treatments and has not reappeared, but it was tiny in length as well, nothing like radiating veins.

I cannot discribe it..They use some massager thing and you have to go in for something like 4 times a week for 2 hours. I saw it at my Dr's office.

Hmm Maybe that's why Ive heard that massaging can work? You know I have no idea what runs in my family. It's not something we ever talked about

I think I know what you're talking about. I've seen it promoted as well....it supposedly also uses suction, so it's like running a high powered vacuum across your dimpled areas, back and forth, while simultaneously massaging them (if I'm not mistaken, that's the "work" you're refering to),...

I first recall that "treatment" being offered back in the early 1990's.

Before that, they had beds you'd lie on with things like rolling pins moving up and down your butt & legs.

Before that there were these vibrating belts that worked on the same premise (only we "ole geezers" will remember these things),....women would lean back into the belts and it would, supposedly, just jiggle the fat up, & loosen it for "easy removal by the body"..... (not my words, mind you, but claims by the manufacturer)....
