Exercise wrong for me?

Hi all,

I am slim and I normally do gentle exercise like yoga. However, I dream of a flat stomach and from the noticeboards I realise that I will have to exercise more vigorously (gym, swimming etc) to lose fat. However I worry that its gonna make me even more slim...ie skinny. What say?

Diet and training go hand in hand - you won't develop an "anorexic" appearance if you eat adequately.

Do you actually want to do more vigorous activity? There's not much point forcing yourself if you are not properly motivated.

Anyway, sure, start doing more physical activity if your aim is improving your body composition and appearance. Doing impact activities such as running to improve bone mass/ density would be a good idea seeing as you appear to have a small frame and are female (making you susceptible to conditions such as osteoporosis later in life).

you have no risk of getting "skinny" from going to the gym(weighttraining).
start slow, read lots and have patience.. your dream can come true!

I see lots of very slim people in my gym, but I sure wouldn't classify any of them as being too skinny.

Just make sure you're doing exercise that you can live with, and that you're getting the proper nutrition!
