Female Fitness Roll Call

Hi ladies!

As many of our longer term members might notice we have switched the name of this forum to better reflect the diverse nature of women who engage in fitness activities.

The mods and admins would really like to breathe some life into some of the forums here that don't seem to be getting much attention.

I thought it might be good to get an idea of just who the women members are here, both lurkers occasional posters and regular posters.

So how about making a post to introduce us to your primary fitness interests and where you train for it.

I'll go first...

I'm Brat, a moderator here on DF. You can find me here pretty well everyday.

My fitness training is built around my desire to remain and improve on functional fitness as I get older. I primarily do strength training and belong to a gym for the better part of the year. I'd love to be able to have a home gym someday.

I'm minime : I've been a member of DF for almost a year now. You can pretty much find me here everyday too.

My fitness interests right now mainly focus around getting stronger in my weight training, though I do enjoy my cardio workouts too, and i like crossfit on occasion

I work out in a public gym which is great : they have a good range of equipment to suit my needs. However the environment is not condusive to crossfit type training due to it being extremely busy, so I too would like a basic home gym someday.

gymgirl here. been at DF for almost a year now too, and am usualy on everyday, especially when i am working!

i'm working on building strength while maintaining lean body mass. i pretty much follow crossfit and have been for almost a year now, and on shorter crossfit days i run intervals and work on strength. i'm currently doing 1 day of 5x5, 1 day of 4x8 and one day of 3x8 1 exercise leg specific, 1 oly lift, and a pull and push exercise(s).

i work out in a public gym which i love, but some of their rules are lame. i'd love to have a house and hope to one day build a garage gym.

: mainly just to have fun, I love lifting and cardio bores me. I'll be competing in 8 weeks 1 day (EEK!!)

Workout location: My college gym. It's okay. Not a lot, if any "serious" lifters. I go during the day when all the teams aren't there so it's not crowded, which is nice.

I was a member of DF a few years ago when I was in college.... now, a 2nd grade teacher, who needs to have enough energy to keep up with all 15 of the 7 and 8 year olds!

Goals: Gain muscle, lose fat, more energy, look hot in a bikini this summer!

Training Location: Used to work out at a public gym, but since I moved I joined a YMCA near my work. It forces me to go before I get home where all I want to do is sleep! Plus, I can swim (used to swim competively!) Another plus: Less creepy men lurking

Keep them coming. I know we have more out there.

Thanks for participating ladies!: It's easy to forget that we all don't have the same motivations, goals and interests. I love reading about what others do.

Good idea!

Name: Sarah, obviously

Basic info: Age 29, live in Maine, married

Occupation: Personal trainer and sports nutritionist

Goals:
1. Maintain and increase my muscle mass. I'm a tiny tiny person and definately a hard gainer! I lose muscle super easy and grow it super hard.
2. Improve my running and runmore half marathons. Also going to do a duathlon this year.
3. Continue to be an example and help others. I train people both online and in person (I own a small gym). So I want to be an example in my community and online.
4. Fitness writing. I write a newspaper article, and I've written one e book. I'm working on a second e book. I want to continue writing, and of course improve. Learning more and reading makes a good writer, so I want to continue to work on this.

Workout location is of course in the small gym I own.

Liftgirl here. I can't remember how long I've been on DF, but it's been awhile. I lurked for a long time before I posted, too.

I work out at the local Gold's. There's not a swimming pool or raquetball court or anything like that, but they have lots of free weights and cardio equipment.

One of my goals is to maintain fitness when I get older. I am only 25 now, but I want to be one of those amazingly in shape old people when I got old. I really believe in the use it or lose it mantra, so I'm using it. My other goals are to get stronger and get more cardiovascular stamina/endurance.

Great thread, Brat!

I've been a DF member for a long time. Can't remember exactly how long. I currently work out at a public gym.

I just had a baby - my son Julian - 7 months ago so right now my primary fitness goal is to lose that baby weight, and get fit again. I use to be at about 20 - 21% body fat. On December 15th I was measured at 28%. So by July I want to be at about 24% at least.

My Secondary fitness goal is to run a half marathon on July 8th. If that's not possible I will be running a 10k
