Fitness/Wellness Day at my job!!
Ok, so my HR director call me on the phone and wants to know what activities I do because she want to put together a brief description of all the health-nuts here to promote the Wellness day she wants to have in Sept. WOW, I am so excited! She want me to help so naturally its all I can think about! She wants to have vendors come out and they can promote whatever they want as long as they provide us w/ helpful information!
Ok, I am not sure how this would work but I am guessing my company is not going to pay for them to be here. So if the vendors do this, it will be out of the goodness of their heart!
Vendors:
24 hr fitness, Curves, QLS Health Complex, GNC, Subway
Got any ideas! I really want this to go well, I am not in charge of this but this is my time to shine and really let people know what I am about!

Rock on Anna. I personally love it when people ask me for fitness advice and it gives me a great sense of pride when they acheive thier goals using my advice.
Getting vendors to come on thier own might be challenge as, like all buisnesses, they are trying to make money. However, if they could be convienced they might have some buisness by showing up (People comming to them after meeting them and learning about them), they might come out.

As far as vendors go, you should start emailing local bike shops. That's a fairly cut-throat market and shops are always looking for little edges. Not only that, the employees tend to be fairly zealous advocates of the sport so the odds of getting *somebody* out there with 'ten-percent off' flyers or something are probably pretty good.
And don't overlook the Y as far as health clubs go. I don't know if you have them in your area but they're pretty reasonably priced and don't tend to advertise a lot so maybe they'd be up for sending somebody too.

Hi Anna-
Congrats, I'm sure you'll do great!
As Octo mentioned, get a bike shop or two to come out. You can try the local health food stores or even GNC- they'll want a chunk of that business and besides, everybody loves to buy magic diet pills and protein powder ( )...
Ask any local fitness equipment warehouse to have a booth- maybe bring a cardio machine for people to try...
Maybe you can make up some flyers with healthy recipes for people to bring home and try- things like that are free and really add a lot to the event.
Get someone to give bodyfat measurements for free (although the genl. public may not enjoy this as much as people like us.... heh).
I'm sure it'll be great- you go girl!

Ok, my HR Director wrote up a piece about the activities. This is what she wrote about me:
"Anna Dominguez spends time at her gym EVERYDAY! She focuses on cardiovascular training, some weight training and a variety of other classes and physical activity."
Tuna-Fish- thats a great idea about bring equipment out. I really would like to have an elliptical trainer . . . that would make them sweat!

Anna-
If you want to make this a success all you have to do is approach the businesses you want involved. Bike shops, health food stores, personal trainers (have a easy cardio class for people to try), fitness equipment warehouses, etc are all good prospects- but realize that no business is done out of kindness or goodwill- it's all about money.
Let them know what kind of traffic you expect to generate, how many people there are in the company who are new to this and don't know about all the available products and services available in the local community- in other words: ripe prospects- and lots of 'em!!! Explain that the best (and all) booth locations are on a first-come-first-served basis....
Well you get the idea. Give them the numbers, trust me- they'll show up.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I like that Curves will be there, maybe approach a couple other all-female gyms to show up. No way would I have felt comfortable going to a co-ed gym when I was overweight, but probably would have given all-female gym my membership
