gaining muscle for a 39y/o female

I'm trying to lose a couple of pounds and gain some serious muscle definition. I'm 39 y/o female... I've been working out now for about 10 weeks with various lifts and advancing weights after ease is felt on the last set. I've only lost around 5 pounds and that was in the first 2 weeks, and my muscle defin. is ok..not great. Any advice on diet, weight amounts and lifts.

thanks, lorri

Lorri,

Start reading! Lots of great stuff around here. One bit of advice is to track what you are eating on fitday.com for a few weeks. Then read around to find what you need to be eating to get the results you want. Although others will disagree, its generally a bad idea to try to gain "serious" muscle and diet (be calorie defficient) at the same time. The body is more efficient doing one thing at a time.
