Good Fats Question

Hello All!
I've been eating good fats with this new Schwarzbien Principle way of eating I'm trying but I entered everything into Fitday.com and it came out to around 4000 calories I ate yesterday!!!!! WHOA!!!!
Does anyone know or can share what they're doing as far as eating good fats? I see "in moderation" a lot, but what exactly does that mean as far as amounts?
I'm eating butter, (don't tell me to switch - margarine is sickening!!! ) canola mayonnaise, cook w/ olive oil, & eat almonds and other nuts for my fats.
Anyone have some suggestions / thoughts / ideas they can share about it? Amounts or other thoughts?
Thx
-Amy

Maybe it's the quantity you entered in fitday? I find it's hard for me to use fitday because i don't always know if I'm eating a cup of this or an ounce of that, and I end up guessing. That's why I only use it once in a while to get a general idea of where my calories are coming from.

Amy -- As a general rule, you probably don’t want any more than 20% of fat in your diet. So for example, if you were aiming at 1500 calories a day, 300 calories of it is fat which equals to ~33 grams.

Some good fats are:
• flaxseed oil/fish oil/ALA/CLA
• olive oil
• natural peanut butter
• nuts/seeds
• Avocados

I agree that it could be the quantity that showed up on fitday. Id double check. sometimes when I add in an oil it will show up as a whole cup!!! you need to adjust the amounts.

personally I consume 40-50g healthy fats per day.
Laura's list is great, although I would personally add hempseed oil to that.

Yeah, Fitday can take a little getting used to. When you first start using it you need to take a fairly close look at exactly which food entry is most appropriate.

For instance, each vegetable is listed about a bajillion times depending on cooking method. Everything from raw brocolli to brocolli sauteed in butter and smothered in cheese and picking the wrong entry (and it's easy to do because they can be kind of deceptive at times) can throw your totals off, sometimes significantly.
