Help with my Fiance's weightloss.

This is well a plea for help fom a member tring to help his soon to be wife.

Little backround, she used to be floaing around 150 about 9 months ago, wanted to loss about 15 lb's so she started running with me. About three months later she gained about 10 pounds lean body mass but had not lost any fat weight to speak of (done by calipers and EM) So now she is 160ish.

So we added some more cardio and dropped the caliories back another 5-7% on average. Added a little wightlifting 2 sessions 30 minutes a week. With 4 1 hour sesions of intense cardio (variation of HIT).

Still she ended up gaining about 7 more pounds of lean body mass and 3 pounds of fat according to the calipers and scale. This is over a 6 month timeframe.

At this point every two weeks when she jumps on the scale its been a absolute mess. Does not see any drop in total fat amount, modivation goes out the window starting to wear on me a little as well.

So I need to do something to get her to start losing fat weight and I mean NOW, or these gym visits are going to stop and she really needs to lose the weight because shes floating around 170 at 5 6' and it not healty.

Also food is inline and she is eating the lunchs that I pack for her so I know its not cheating on food.

Recently we have dropped the lifting to see if thats whats holding up her weightloss, she wants to do some sort of chemical supplamentation which I am not sure I agree with. She tried epherda at one point before she met me and she says it worked great for her, so I am thinking the aspirin/caffine/ephedra stack would be best.

I need some immediate reponse in her total weight though and I am really out of idea's. Wat else could be holding her up.

her diet is out of whack.

how many calories is she eating? whatever it is, it's still more than she needs or she wouldn't gain weight, plain and simple. either the diet itself is too high in total calories, the macronutrient profile is wrong, or she's sneaking food in when you're not around. a lot ppl aren't aware or are not willing to be aware that a "small" chocolate bar is still nearly 300 calories, in most cases.

1hr weights a week is useless. she's obviously mesomorph - get her on a proper weight routine, 12 to 15 reps would probably give her the results she wants. minimum three sessions a week, Mon/Wed/Fri, one hour long. start with a full-body routine for the first four weeks, then move into a chest/back/leg split.

take the focus off the weight - who gives a rat's ass about the scales. instead, go with the tape measure.

I would agree its her diet. Give us a detailed list of her eating and maybe we can recommend some fixes.

With someone doing that much cardio she is simply eating too much for weight/fat loss.

Yes it could be diet but then again maybe she is not eating enough or the right macronutirent balance.

Did you also say that she gained 10lbs of lean body mass by doing cardio (running) for 3 months? (I can gain fat weight when I exercise but I am not the norm and neither is it out of control.)

I also think that you should really try to make sure that all the variables are undercontrol when you do the bodyfat testing. (time of day, time in her cycle, same experienced technician, same hydration levels...etc) . A close analysis of diet is in order too. Use fitday and post the link. Unless you are with her 24/7 you have no guarantee that she is not messing with her diet.

Post her height current weight, bodyfat and average calorie intake over the last 10 days. It will be easier to see what's been happening.
