hip pain

So I recently started working out at the gym (yes i tried to start a journal and I had the whole thing written up, pressed the wrong button and BAM lt was all gone) anyways, since I have been working out I'm experiencing some pretty bad hip pains. if I sit for to long and get up it REALLY hurts...Any idea what it could be??

What does the pain feel like and is it only experienced when you get up from a sitting position or is it constant? Did you lift extra heavy or do anything different than your usual program? Any pain that radiates (shoots into your back, butt, down your hip/leg or calf?)

It just hurts, I can't describe it. Yes it only hurts when I'm getting up from a sitting position. It has started since the first day I started to work out and it stays in my hips, does not shoot anywhere.
It's pretty annoying, when I get up from the car I look like a 90 year old woman!

Is it in the "dimple" area of your glutes, or above the iliac crest, do you feel it on one side or both sides, is it in the front, like where your hip flexor is, and does it feel deep like it's within the joint, or muscular, where you'll notice that certain stretched or contracted positions make it worse.

Out of curiosity, has it gotten any better over these past few days?

Its a lactic acid effect in muscles.

Yr learn that ache is a sign of good workout.

Yeah she'll ache all over when she first starts, but she's describing something more than DOMS. The fact that it's unilateral and isolated sounds like something else. Could be anything from muscle imbalance (which was brought out when she started working out,....or poor form).

I'm still not sure where in her hip in hurts (the "hip" can be the groin, the piriformis, the gluteus maximus or medius, her hip flexor, even her QL can cause hip pain). Too many variables. What if she has a touch of inflammation in the joint? What about an inflamed tendon.

It would depend on how long this lasts, and if there's anything she can do to alleviate the pain.

Like anything else, see a doctor if it goes on for too long, do not work through the pain (until she knows what kind of pain is okay to work through, and I don't think she does yet, but she'll learn it).

I think the best thing to do is to see a doctor. In the meantime, you should check out Healia Communities to do some research, talk with others or even ask questions to medical professionals. I'm a member of the site and I've gotten some really good medical advice and learned a lot from just poking around. Hope you figure it out and feel better!
